Desire2Learn Analytics allows for relevant reporting, specific to the individual that is viewing it. Datasets are presented in an easy-to understand manner. Users can continue to drill down and extract information in an on-demand fashion, rather than solely through static reports. Desire2Learn Analytics provides the option to select from canned, on-demand, drill down, and a complete ad-hoc report and dashboard builder for custom report requirements.
Desire2Learn Analytics Architecture
Desire2Learn Analytics is based on a robust and extensible platform. This allows for multiple levels of refinement along with the addition of new datasets as environments expand and technology evolves. The Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL) program pulls data from its original operational system and moves it to an offline, source or subject specific database or data mart where it's staged to be consumed by the presentation layer for direct consumption.
The architecture provides scalability by removing the impact of reporting on production systems as well as containing source/subject specific data to its own database structure. This containment supports multiple levels of security, refinement and archiving ensuring a proper balance is achieved between the rarely used archived data/logs and the relevant online data used to drive the reports used on a regular basis.
